Named after lightning, the Levin Vessel plays with the familiar idea of capturing lightning in a bottle.
Hand-built using the coil technique from New Mexico red clay, its bold form is animated by lightning-like lines carved into the surface while the clay is leather-hard. White slip fills the markings, creating flashes of contrast against the rich, earthy clay.
Although watertight and functional, the Levin Vessel is best displayed on its own as a sculptural object.
